Dr. Ryan Hodgins was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Waterloo on the Dean’s Honour List.  From there, he obtained his medical degree with honours from the University of Toronto.

 

Dr. Hodgins completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Calgary. He then went on to complete a Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy fellowship at the University of British Columbia with Dr. Robert McCormack and a Shoulder Reconstruction fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand with Mr. Peter Poon.

 

Dr. Hodgins is a member of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association (COA), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and Canadian Academy of Sports and Exercise Medicine(CASEM).  He is currently the team Orthopaedic Surgeon for the Sudbury Wolves and the Sudbury Five. He has been involved in team coverage for the Vancouver Whitecaps, BC lions, Simon Fraser University, and Speed Skating Canada.

 

Dr. Hodgins’ practice involves treatment of knee injuries (ligament and meniscal tears, and cartilage injuries), shoulder injuries (arthroscopic labral and rotator cuff repair and instability),  and shoulder osteoarthritis (Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, total shoulder arthroplasty, and hemiarthroplasty).
